The White House stated that Barack Obama and Vladimir Putin are eager to work together to fight against regional instability in Syria.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US President Barack Obama and Russian President Vladimir Putin are eager to work together to fight against regional instability in Syria and are committed to cooperate on the implementation of Iran nuclear agreement, the White House announced in a statement.

“The leaders committed to remain in close coordination as the JCPOA [Iran’s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action] is operationalized and also expressed a desire to work together on reducing regional tensions, particularly in Syria,” the statement read on Wednesday.

Obama 'Encouraged' by Putin's Phone Call to Talk About Syria
The P5+1 group of countries and the EU, the White House also said that Obama thanked Vladimir Putin during a phone call on Wednesday for Russia’s critical role in finalizing the Iran nuclear agreement that was negotiated between Tehran.

“The President [Obama] spoke by phone today with President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation to discuss the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) reached among the P5+1, the European Union, and Iran regarding Iran’s nuclear program,” the release said on Wednesday. “The President thanked President Putin for Russia’s important role in achieving this milestone, the culmination of nearly 20 months of intense negotiations.”
