John Kerry says those who oppose the international mediators' nuclear deal with Iran should offer an alternative.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Those who oppose the international mediators' nuclear deal with Iran should offer an alternative, US Secretary of State John Kerry told CNN TV channel.

Israeli politicians have strongly criticized the landmark deal between Iran and international mediators reached on Tuesday, calling it a historic mistake. According to media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated Iran will now have a "sure path to nuclear weapons."

"There are people who regrettably have just already automatically politically decided ‘I’m going to oppose this’ without even knowing or reading the agreement, without knowing all the terms of it, they oppose to it. There are people who have decided, many of them, that they should not deal with Iran. But they don’t offer alternative…People have an obligation to define what’s the alternative," Kerry said on Tuesday.

Kerry has called the agreement between Iran and the international mediators "historic," noting, however, that the most important is the implementation of the agreement.

"On paper we have an agreement, but we don't have anything until this is implemented…It's the implementation of this [agreement] that will really be the measure," he said.

On Tuesday, following months of talks, Iran and the P5+1 group, comprising Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and China, reached a final agreement aimed at guaranteeing the peaceful nature of the Iranian nuclear program.

According to the final text of the nuclear agreement, Iran will under no circumstances seek to develop or acquire a nuclear weapon. The text also claims the final deal will positively contribute to regional Middle Eastern security.
