At least people are feared killed by al-Shabaab militants in Friday's attacks on an African Union base in Somalia.

In the first attack, the militants reportedly detonated a car bomb and fought with African Union peacekeepers south of the country's capital, Mogadishu. A military official told DPA that at least 45 people were killed. The second attack killed a commander, according to Reuters.
