Kiev’s court ruled that the second suspect in the murder of Oles Buzina should stay under arrest until August 14.

KIEV (Sputnik) – Kiev’s court ruled during the Friday hearing that the second suspect in the murder of Ukrainian journalist Oles Buzina should stay under arrest until August 14, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported.

The court’s decision stressed that the suspect, Andriy Medvedko, could avoid the trial unless arrested.

Suspected Killer of Kiev Critic Oles Buzina Served in Special Police Unit
In April, Ukrainian opposition journalist Oles Buzina was shot dead near his home in Kiev by two masked gunmen. Two suspects in the Buzina murder case were detained on Thursday, according to the attorney general's office in Kiev. One of the detainees is said to have served in a special police unit.

Oles Buzina, who had a critical view of Ukraine’s government, advocated a political settlement to the Ukrainian crisis and the country's federalization. The reporter’s murder occured after the killings of two other opposition figures, Serhiy Suhobok and Oleh Kalashnikov, who also expressed criticism of Kiev.
