Russia Plans to Build Four 1,200-MW Capacity NPP Units in Egypt - Rosatom
CAIRO (Sputnik) The head of Russia’s state-run atomic energy agency Rosatom Sergei Kirienko submitted a business proposal on the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt to the country’s President Abdel Fattah Sisi, the press service of the Egyptian leader said Monday.

“Rosatom’s CEO Sergei Kirienko has submitted a proposal for the construction of the Egyptian nuclear power plant in compliance with the latest international technologies,” the press release said.

The announcement follows a meeting of Kirienko with the Egyptian president held earlier in the day.

Egypt has already chosen the site, where the nuclear reactor will be built. It will be Egypt’s town of Dabaa on the Mediterranean coast.

Rosatom is expected to build there four 1,200-megawatt (MW) nuclear power units.

The company's most recent major deal came March 24 after signing a $10-billion agreement with Jordan to build the country's first nuclear power plant.
