Knock-Knock-Knockin’ on Russia’s Door
16:02 GMT 13.05.2015 (Updated: 10:13 GMT 06.08.2022) It seems that the United States has finally realized that major global issues can’t be dealt with without Russia’s participation, which might have lead to US Secretary of State John Kerry’s visit to Sochi this week.
This was Kerry’s first visit to Russia since May 2013. The top US diplomat met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov as well as President Vladimir Putin during his trip.
The talks between the Russian president and US Secretary of State on Tuesday did not result in a major breakthrough, but both sides agreed that bilateral relations must return to normal.
Kerry also said that the US prefers not to maintain sanctions against Russia.
Is this the first sign of relations between the two countries getting back to normal?
