Tunisia Nabs More Than 20 Suspected Militants After Deadly Museum Attack
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Tunisian police have arrested the leader of a terrorist cell responsible for carrying out the deadly attack at the Bardo Museum in the country’s capital last week, a senior Interior Ministry official said Wednesday.

The terrorist cell comprised 16 militants, head of Interior Ministry's security affairs Rafik Echilli told the local Al-Maghreb newspaper. Two terrorists had returned from Syria after taking part in that country's civil war.

No further information on the detained terrorist has been reported.

Islamic State jihadists claimed responsibility for the attack.

The Islamic State has seized large areas in Syria and Iraq since 2012 and proclaimed strict Islamic law on lands under their control. ISIL and allied groups currently operate in Syria, Iraq, Libya, Egypt and Nigeria.
