In a bizarre story worthy of a Ken Kesey novel, a Long Island woman is suing the city of New York and Harlem Hospital for holding her in a psych ward for delusional behavior and alleged bipolar disorder, all because she claimed the US president follows her on Twitter.

Kam Brock was held for eight days in a Harlem Hospital mental facility and injected with sedatives and given lithium, a mood-stabilizing drug used to treat bipolar disorder, all for claiming that US President Barack Obama follows her on twitter — a claim that turns out to be true, her lawsuit states.

According to Brock’s attorney Michael Lamonsoff, the NYPD impounded Brock’s car in September after police officers suspected her to be high on marijuana. She admitted to being “emotional” the following day during a police interview, but claims she is not an “emotionally disturbed person,” the New York Daily News reported. Nonetheless, Brock, a 32-year-old aspiring entertainer, was handcuffed and taken to the hospital, where she was drugged, she claims.

Harlem Hospital’s “master treatment plan” for Brock, according to legal documents, states that they wanted her to “verbalize the importance of education for employment” and “state that Obama is not following her on Twitter,” according to the News.

“I told (the doctor) Obama follows me on Twitter to show her the type of person I am. I’m a good person, a positive person. Obama follows positive people!” Brock said.

“Next thing you know, the police held onto me, the doctor stuck me with a needle and I was knocked out,” Brock said. “I woke up to them taking off my underwear and then went out again. I woke up the next day in a hospital robe.”

The hospital documents note the “patient’s weakness: inability to test reality, unemployment.”

Brock was ultimately released without being told why she was free to go, but not before racking up a $13,637.10 bill for her stay.

The hospital and the NYPD declined to comment, the News reported, and the city Law Department has said Brock’s suit would be reviewed.

As for Brock, she has one wish:

“Follow me on Twitter! Like Obama does!”
