Bomb Blast Hits Eastern Libyan City, at Least 45 Killed

More than 45 people have been killed and scores injured in a multiple bomb blasts in eastern Libyan city of Al Qubbah, local media report citing parliamentary Aguila Saleh.

Three car bombs set off targetting civilians today in the city of Al Qubbah which is close to the occupied Derna, a port city in eastern Libya. Militants claiming loyalty to Islamic State are resposible for the attack, media report.

Saleh told reporters that the car bombs had targeted a petrol station and a security building.

Libya is currently facing the worst wave of violence since the beginning of the 2011 civil war. Internationally recognized authorities are fighting numerous militias. The embargo on arms supplies to Libya was imposed in 2011 over violence against civilian population during protests against the country's long-time leader Muammar Gaddafi.
