Next 'Normandy Four' Meeting Will Be Held by Telephone – Kremlin

Russian president aide stated that leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France may talk by phone on Monday evening, but their next meeting in person has not yet been discussed.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Leaders of Russia, Ukraine, Germany and France may talk by phone on Monday evening, but their next meeting in person has not yet been discussed, an aide to the Russian president said.

“A new conversation by phone is being arranged at the moment, the exact time of it is being agreed via diplomatic channels. It may take place this evening if we agree on time. If not, the phone talk will take place in the coming days,” Yuri Ushakov said.

The recent phone conversation by Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko was held on Sunday evening.

“The issue of holding another [four-party] summit was not raised during latest phone talks and the meeting in Minsk,” the Kremlin official added.

Under the agreement, reached in Minsk, the ceasefire in eastern Ukraine came into force on Sunday. The warring sides also agreed to withdraw heavy artillery from the line of contact within two weeks and exchange all prisoners once the ceasefire is established.
