Russian Alleged Hacker Arrives in US After Extradition From Netherlands

Drinkman is one of four Russians accused of stealing the details of 160 million bank cards, in what is described as the largest hacking scheme to be tried in the US that allegedly cost the banks' clients more than $300 million.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian suspected hacker Vladimir Drinkman arrived in the United States following extradition from the Netherlands, Bloomberg reported Saturday citing a Justice Department official.

Drinkman is one of four Russians accused of stealing the details of 160 million bank cards, in what is described as the largest hacking scheme to be tried in the United States. It allegedly cost the banks' clients more than $300 million.

Drinkman's New Jersey attorney, Bart Stapert, told RIA Novosti Friday that his defendant would be arraigned next Tuesday.

On Friday, it was announced that the Russian Consulate General in New York was planning to meet with the alleged hacker.

In June 2012, Drinkman was arrested in the Netherlands at the request of the United States. In mid-April, the Court of Rotterdam made a ruling which satisfied both the US and Russian requests for Drinkman's extradition.
