"The forming of the 13th humanitarian convoy for residents of Donetsk and Luhansk regions is completed in the Rostov region, and it is ready to be sent," Oleg Voronov told the press.
The convoy comprises over 170 vehicles, which will deliver over 1,800 tonnes of humanitarian aid to the war-torn regions. Food, necessary items, building materials and other objects necessary for civilians' lives will be brought to Donetsk and Luhansk.
"It is planned that the convoy will leave the Donskoy rescue center early on February 8," Voronov said.
Voronov stated that all the machinery was checked and functional. All the drivers underwent special training courses for driving in bad weather conditions and extreme situations.
"They [drivers] are all very familiar with the upcoming route, as those exact drivers delivered aid to Donetsk and Luhansk residents before, including in the most difficult weather conditions," Voronov said.
Earlier this month, the foreign and emergencies ministries of Russia announced that the 14th convoy to Donbas will be sent on February 15.
An ongoing military confrontation between Kiev forces and eastern Ukrainian independence supporters has led to a sharp humanitarian crisis in Donbas. Since last August, Russia's Emergencies Ministry sent 12 aid convoys to the region, delivering more than 16 thousand tonnes of humanitarian aid to the region.
