Last week, UK planning officials delivered a report recommending the Lancashire county council to reject the development of two new fracking sites due to potential hazards to local communities.
The officials said that the permission must be refused, because of excessive noise that would unnecessarily affect local residents, and because of an increase in road traffic.
Following the recommendations, Cuadrilla submitted the revised proposals.
“The additional information we have provided on further mitigation measures will, we believe, fully address the noise and traffic concerns… There will now be an opportunity for the public to properly review and comment on this,” Cuadrilla said as quoted by The Guardian.
Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, a technique for the extraction of shale gas through the high-pressure injection of a toxic fluid mixture deep underground, is widely considered to be dangerous for the environment. Environmental experts have proven that the toxic materials, contained by fracking fluid, contaminate the groundwater.
