Peace Process in East Ukraine May Start December 9: Kiev
MOSCOW, December 6 (Sputnik) — The Kiev forces have conducted 21 attacks on eastern Ukraine's independence supporters over the past 24 hours, the military operation's press center said Saturday.

"Ukrainian artillery has carried out 21 attacks on [independence supporters'] troops and equipment," the press center said on its Facebook page.

Poroshenko: Kiev to Introduce 'Silence Regime' in East Ukraine December 9

The warring sides agreed to a ceasefire in September in Minsk, but since then both parties have accused each other of violating the truce.

On Friday, Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) said that Kiev-led security forces and Luhansk People's Republic's representatives would sign a new ceasefire agreement on December 9.

Earlier on Friday, Deputy Head of the Ukrainian President's Administration Valeriy Chaliy said that December 9 was the possible "day of silence", which would allow the withdrawal of heavy arms and artillery marking the start of the peace process between the opposing sides.

According to the UN Human Rights Office, almost 1,000 people died as a result of the confrontation in the region between September and November 18.
