Russian paratroopers and Serbian special forces are conducting joint tactical counter-terrorism exercises from November 8 to November 16 in Serbia; the two countries will hold their next joint exercises on the Russian territory in 2015.

MOSCOW, November 15 (Sputnik) —Russia and Serbia will hold their next joint counter-terrorism exercises on the Russian territory in 2015, Russian Defense Ministry press office said Saturday quoting the Russian Airborne Troops Colonel General Vladimir Shamanov.

"The exercises we have held are definitely showing the increased level of compatibility between our units in conducting special counter-terrorism operations… We are planning to enhance our cooperation and to hold similar exercises with our Serbian colleagues on the territory of Russia in 2015," Shamanov said, as quoted by the press office.

Shamanov, who lead the Russian paratroopers at the SREM-2014 military exercises in Serbia, has mentioned the high level of competence that the Serbian forces have demonstrated during the drills.

Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gasic has also acknowledged the high level of cooperation between the Russian and Serbian units. He mentioned that the SREM-2014 were the largest military exercises held on the territory of Serbia in the last 30 years.

"I'm proud of our military men who have shown today their ability to implement such complex tasks and thank our Russian colleagues for the opportunity to study and learn from each other's experiences," Gasic said.

From November 8 to November 16, Russian paratroopers and Serbian special forces are conducting joint tactical counter-terrorism exercises SREM-2014 in Serbia.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian and Serbian counter-terrorism units have practiced blocking and destroying bases of simulated terrorists and freeing hostages. The units for radiological, chemical and biological protection and the medical units have also practiced undertaking joint actions.
