MOSCOW, November 10 (RIA Novosti) — South Korea will launch on Monday its largest military drill against provocations by North Korea, Xinhua reported citing South Korean Defense Ministry.
The newspaper said the exercise will run through November 21 and will include 330,000 soldiers, compared to the 80,000 that took part in the last year's drill. What is more, 23,000 pieces of military equipment, 60 warships and a number of airplanes will also be put into action during the drill.
Earlier in October, following border skirmishes, Seoul warned Pyongyang against provocations, saying the situation would escalate military tensions. The two sides exchanged fire after South Korean activists sent balloons over the border to North Korea carrying anti-Pyongyang leaflets.
