MOSCOW, November 6 (RIA Novosti) — Israeli police arrested 16 people for rioting in Jerusalem on Wednesday and continue to implement "security measures", Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said Thursday.
"Police continue security measures in Jerusalem. Yesterday 16 suspects were arrested for rioting," Rosenfeld said on his Twitter account. Over the last two weeks police had arrested 188 suspects, he added.
On Wednesday, one person was killed and 13 sustained injuries in a car attack in Jerusalem. Israeli authorities later announced the attacker's connection with Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist movement.
Earlier on Wednesday, police briefly sealed off the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem and dispersed rioters with stun grenades after "masked Arab suspects" reportedly threw rocks at police officers.
