MONACO, November 5 (RIA Novosti) — Russia expressed readiness to negotiate over its participation in the Interpol Foundation for a Safer World, Russia's Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimir Kolokoltsev said at a meeting in Monaco Wednesday.
Russia's Ministry of Internal Affairs "always underlined that mutual interchange of data is beneficial to all the member states of Interpol," Vladimir Kolokoltsev told the Foundation President Elias Murr at the meeting held in the framework of Interpol General Assembly celebrated on November 3-7.
The Foundation for a Safer World, legally and administratively independent of Interpol, is intended to fight against terrorism, transnational organized crime and support Interpol programs and activities to create a safe and secure world.
Vladimir Kolokoltsev also noted that the Russian Federation was included in the list of the 20 countries whose membership dues formed the largest part of Interpol budget. The minister also added that Russia "monitors the development of the organization financial strategies."
In October 2014, Interpol Executive Committee created the Interpol Foundation for a Safer World and appointed Elias Murr, Lebanon's former Deputy Prime Minister, as the President of the Board of the Foundation.
Interpol is the world's largest international police organization that consist of 190 member countries. It enables each member to work together on cross-border investigations in order to enhance international police collaboration and tackle the major crime issues in the member countries and in the world.
