MOSCOW, July 1 (R-Sport) - Demy de Zeeuw has returned to Russian premier league football side Spartak Moscow after a six-month loan spell with Anderlecht, a report in Belgium said on Monday.

After being sent out on loan in January, the 30-year-old scored once in nine appearances with Anderlecht, making three starts under coach John van den Brom.

De Zeeuw joined Spartak in 2011, a year after helping the Netherlands to the 2010 World Cup final, but struggled for first-team football in Moscow, starting just one of Spartak’s six Champions League group games last term.

He has now returned to the Russian capital to rejoin the nine-time champions, after Spartak and Anderlecht failed to agree upon a fee to make his move permanent, DH.be reported.

Spartak boss Valery Karpin is a little short in the midfield department, with Brazil star Romulo out for months after undergoing a second operation on his cruciate ligament in June.

De Zeeuw rejoins a side that now includes box-to-box midfielder Denis Glushakov, who switched from Lokomotiv Moscow last month.
