MOSCOW, November 11 (R-Sport) - Spartak Moscow recovered from a midweek defeat in the Champions League to move up to fifth in the Russian Premier League with a 2-0 win over ten-man FC Krasnodar on Sunday.

Spartak dominated possession and created the better chances as they ran out winners at home, with Dmitry Kombarov setting up Ari for the first goal and scored the second from the penalty spot.

The hosts overtook Rubin Kazan to take fifth with their third straight league win, a contrast to their European form, where three group stage defeats have put the Russians on the brink of an early exit.

Krasnodar, who missed injured top-scorer Yura Movsisyan, stay ninth.

Kombarov provided the assist for Ari’s 55th-minute opener with a floated cross that the Brazilian volleyed in at the far post.

Krasnodar’s challenge faded after Alexander Martynovich was sent off on 75 minutes, receiving a straight red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity when he brought down striker Artyom Dzyuba.

Kombarov stepped up to score from the spot on 88 minutes after Joaozinho fouled his twin brother Kirill Kombarov in the box.
