MOSCOW, November 1 (R-Sport) - Britain’s Andy Murray suffered a surprise defeat to Poland’s Jerzy Janowicz in the third round of the Paris Masters on Thursday.

World No. 3 Murray edged out the world No. 69 in the first set but crumbled in the decider after losing a second-set tiebreak as he went down 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-2.

Murray’s departure leaves the Paris Masters shorn of its top three seeds before the quarterfinals, after top seed Roger Federer withdrew injured and second seed Novak Djokovic was knocked out in the second round by Sam Querrey of the United States.

Janowicz now faces either eighth seed Janko Tipsarevic or ninth seed Juan Monaco in the quarterfinals.
