Conferences leaders Traktor Chelyabinsk and Lokomotiv Yaroslavl both had their winning streaks brought to an end by teams currently outside the playoff zone in the KHL.

Dmitry Tarasov and Mika Pyorala did all of the damage in the space of three first-period minutes for a 2-1 home ice defeat of Traktor.

Stanislav Chistov scored for the visitors, but that wasn’t enough to prevent a first defeat in seven games for Traktor on Saturday.

Traktor remains on top in the East, while Amur is tenth.

Avangard Omsk, meanwhile, frustrated the Western leader Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, which was on a six-game winning streak, as last season's runner-up recorded a 5-2 win on the road.

Lokomotiv is still first in the West, with Avangard just below the playoff zone in the East in ninth, with four consecutive wins.

In another surprise result Saturday, Metallurg Novokuznetsk stunned Metallurg Magnitogorsk 4-1, with two pucks flying into an empty Magnitogorsk net in the last minute of the game.

Magnitogorsk is fourth and Novokuznetsk eighth in the East.

Elsewhere, St. Louis Blues wing Vladimir Tarasenko scored the winning goal for SKA St. Petersburg as Milos Riha’s team battled to a 4-3 win over Lev Prague on the road.

Tarasenko has scored in each of his four appearances for SKA and now has five points on goals only.

Lev is second in the West and SKA is fifth with four wins in the last five games.

Barys Astana did not let down Vladimir Krikunov on his 1000th career game as a coach, registering a 3-1 victory at Atlant Moscow Region.

Barys is sixth in the East, while Atlant is seventh in the West with three consecutive losses.

Elsewhere, bottom team Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg suffered its seventh consecutive defeat, at the hands of Sibir Novosibirsk, with Alexei Kopeikin and Kristian Kudroc scoring in the space of 13 seconds in the third period to give Sibir a 3-1 lead.

Alexei Simakov hit a consolation for the visitors to make the final score 3-2.

Avtomobilist remains last in the East, while Sibir is second.
