Brazil’s first-choice goalkeeper Rafael Cabral will miss the Olympics due to an elbow injury, the Brazil Football Federation said Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Santos player injured his right elbow during a training session and left for Brazil to receive treatment.

As a replacement Brazil coach Mano Menezes called reserve goalkeeper Gabriel up to the senior squad to join Fiorentina’s Neto, and brought in Atletico Mineiro’s Renan Ribeiro to take Gabriel’s place as standby goalkeeper.

In the group stage, Brazil will play Egypt, Belarus and New Zealand.

Their first match will against Egypt be at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on July 26.
