Russian Premier League bottom club Spartak Nalchik broke a run of six successive defeats with a 3-0 victory over FC Volga on Sunday.

Midfielder Roman Kontsedalov struck the first from the penalty spot on 37 minutes, after Georgian defender Gia Grigalava pushed Alexander Shchanitsin in the box.

The second came 10 minutes into the second half from young striker Magomed Mitrishev, whose low shot beat Volga goalkeeper Ilya Abaev at his near post.

Striker Daniel Buitrago scored the third, his first for the club since joining from Latvian side FK Spartaks in the winter. The Colombian pounced on a defensive lapse to poke home on 76 minutes.

The Caucasus-based side remain last and move to 30 points, eight behind FC Volga in the second relegation playoff spot.

Volga are four points from safety, where FC Rostov linger on 42 points.

Spartak Moscow could go second later Saturday with a win against Rubin Kazan, before Guus Hiddink's Anzhi host Dynamo Moscow.

Krasnodar travel to Rostov on Monday.
