Russian President Dmitry Medvedev thanked the Angry Birds maker on Friday for creating a game that is highly popular with government officials.

"Before talking politics, I would like to thank Mr. [Peter] Vesterbacka for creating an occupation for a huge number of officials who now know what to do in their free and not-so-free time. I saw them [playing the game] myself many times,"

Medvedev told Vesterbacka, the founder and head of Finland-based Rovio Mobile, during his visit to a session on IT technologies at the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.

"I do not remember how many Angry Birds products were released but they are likely to appear regularly," the president said wishing success to other companies working in this segment.

Angry Birds is a puzzle video game which was first released for Apple's iOS in December 2009.

The game is called a true mobile wonder with over 200 million copies downloaded for iPhone, other touchscreen-based smartphones, personal computers and gaming consoles.
