The Bandar Abbas Refining Company sold 20,000 tons of gasoline at Iran's international mercantile exchange on the Kish Island, Ali Akbar Hashemian, director general of Iran's Mercantile Exchange Company, was quoted by SENA as saying.

Hashemian said the sale was the final phase in launching the country's petroleum bourse.

The National Iranian Oil Products Company (NIOPDC) has agreed to put 30,000 tons of gasoline a month on the bourse, Press TV reported.

Iran has announced plans to quadruple its gasoline production from the current 42 million liters (11.09 million gallons) per day to 186 million liters (49.1 million gallons).
