The Czech Republic supports the creation of a missile defense shield in Europe, President Vaclav Klaus said on Saturday.
It is important to cooperate with Russia on the project, Klaus said, according to the CTK news agency.
The more dialogue there will be, the better, he said, adding that Russia might be interested in close cooperation.
NATO has formally invited Moscow to join its missile defense program.
Russia has been critical of U.S. missile defense plans, including the deployment a U.S. radar base near Prague.
Klaus said it would be bad if the Czech Republic was not involved in the development of the missile defense architecture.
