Ukraine will meticulously abide by the terms of all agreements with the IMF and other international organizations, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said on Thursday.

On July 4, the International Monetary Fund and the Ukrainian government agreed a cooperation program for the next 2 1/2 years.

In November 2008, the IMF started a $16.4 billion standby loan arrangement for Ukraine, of which more than $11 billion was disbursed. Ukraine expected to receive the remaining $3.8 billion in November 2009, but the funds were frozen due to political instability in the country.

"Unlike the previous government, we will carry out all points of the agreement with the IMF to the letter," Azarov said.

He stressed that this applied not only to agreements with the IMF.

"The Ukrainian government will honor absolutely all the agreements that it signs," he said.

"We must restore our credibility," he added.

Azarov said Ukraine was in talks with a number of foreign companies with which the previous government tore up contracts without explanation and kicked them out "for no apparent reason."

"Such things will not happen again," Azarov said.
