ST. PETERSBURG, October 25 (RIA Novosti) - Finnish companies could take part in the development of the Shtokman gas condensate field, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Sunday after talks with his Finnish counterpart.

"Today we discussed the possibility for Finnish companies to participate in developing the Shtokman gas condensate deposit. Participation of Finnish partners is also possible here," Putin told journalists.

The Shtokman field in the Russian sector of the Barents Sea has estimated reserves of 3.8 trillion cubic meters. Shtokman is to feed Nord Stream, a gas pipeline set to link Russia and the European Union via the Baltic Sea.

Russian energy giant Gazprom has a 51% stake in the Shtokman project, while France's Total and Norway's StatoilHydro have 25% and 24%, respectively.
