MOSCOW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Dmitry Klokov and Dmitry Lapikov won on Monday silver and bronze medals respectively in men's 105 kg weightlifting event of the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
The gold medal went to Andrei Aramnov of Belarus, who shattered three world records on his way to the victory first by lifting 200 kg in the Snatch then by 236 kg in the Clean and Jerk to eventually get a total of 436 kg.
The Belarusian athlete's total was 13 kg more than Klokov could manage, while his 423 kg beat compatriot Lapikov by 3 kg.
The 2006 World Champion Marcin Dolega of Poland lifted 420 kg - the same as Lapikov - but missed out on a medal due to a heavier pre-competition weight. The difference between the two athletes at the weigh-in was just 70 grams.
