VILNIUS, May 10 (RIA Novosti) - Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas expects to meet with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, at an international economic forum due to be held in St Petersburg in June, national radio said on Monday.
The Lithuanian government has forwarded a request for a meeting through diplomatic channels, but has not yet received a positive answer, the country's Ziniu radio station said, citing the premier's spokesman.
In an interview with the radio station, the Lithuanian premier said he wanted to meet with Putin, but was not scheduled to meet with Russia's new president, Dmitry Medvedev, at the forum.
The St. Petersburg forum, which will take place on June 6-8, has been dubbed a ‘second Davos' as, like the annual talks in the Swiss Alps, it will unite the representatives of many European states and international organizations, the heads of major corporations, as well as leading economic and political analysts.
