MOSCOW, July 26 (RIA Novosti) - Novatek, Russia's largest independent gas producer, said Thursday its gas production in the first half of 2007 increased by 4.1% to 14.9 billion cubic meters year-on-year.

The company's output of hydrocarbon liquids - gas condensate and oil - in the reporting period dropped 4.6% to 1.2 million metric tons (8.82 million bbl) against the same period last year.

The company said its hydrocarbon liquid output corresponded with its plans, taking into account the natural decline in condensate contained in the gas-condensate mixture in two fields.

Novatek expanded gas supplies to 36 Russian regions in 2006 increasing deliveries by 11% to 30.3 billion cubic meters, or about 8% of Russia's gas consumption.

Novatek, Russia's second natural gas producer after Russian energy giant Gazprom, was established in 1994 and handles gas upstream and downstream operations and oil and gas refining. The company's deposits and licensed areas are situated in the Yamal-Nenets autonomy in the northeast Urals, the world's largest region for natural gas output, which accounts for over 90% of Russian and about 20% of global gas output.
