NOVO-OGARYOVO, (Moscow Region), July 1 (RIA Novosti) - Russia hopes to win in its bid to host the 2014 Olympics in the Black Sea resort of Sochi and is prepared to organize the event at the highest level, President Vladimir Putin said Sunday.
Putin held a meeting July 1 with Russian Olympic champions in his residence outside Moscow just three days before his visit to Guatemala to attend a session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which will announce the host city for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
"We hope for an objective, well-meaning and professional approach for selecting the host city," Putin said.
The 2014 Olympic host city will be announced July 4, on the first day of the IOC session in Guatemala. Apart from Sochi, Austria's Salzburg and South Korea's PyeongChang are bidding to host the international games.
