HANOI, November 18 (RIA Novosti) - Nineteen heads of state and government attending a two-day Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit are meeting with members of the APEC Business Advisory Council, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Saturday.

The meeting is taking place behind closed doors as part of the 14th APEC Summit that opened in Hanoi earlier Saturday.

The Council includes three representatives from each member country. Russia is represented by Andrei Kostin, the chief executive of Russia's state-run foreign trade bank Vneshtorgbank; Alexander Medvedev, deputy board chairman of energy giant Gazprom; and Oleg Deripaska, chairman of the Russian Aluminum board of directors.

About 1,200 businessmen, representing leading companies from the Asia-Pacific region, met in the Vietnamese capital Friday during a business forum ahead of the APEC summit.

Russia's delegation to the forum comprises the heads of leading energy companies and banks.

The Business Advisory Council was established in November 1995 to facilitate the forum's interaction with business circles which are seen as the engine of economic development in the Asia-Pacific region.
