* At the 49th ISSF World Shooting Championships in Zagreb, Croatia (through August 5):

- Lyubov Galkina won the gold medal in the 50m rifle 3-positions women's competition with 684.3 points. Sylwia Bogacka (Poland) took silver with 683.8 points, and Sonja Pfeilschifter (Germany) took bronze with 683.4 points

- Russia won gold in the trap men's team competition with 362 points. India took silver with 360 points, and the U.S. finished third with 359 points

- Valentina Protasova won the gold medal in the 50m rifle prone junior women's competition with 592 points, 3 points ahead of compatriot Darya Vdovina, who took silver by defeating Danielle Roth (Israel) on extra shots.

- Russia won gold in the 50m rifle prone junior women's team competition with 1,764 points. Israel took silver with 1,752 points, and Norway finished third with 1,750 points
