ST. PETERSBURG, April 5 (RIA Novosti, Olga Vtorova) - A major Norwegian company said Wednesday it would buy a 75% stake in a top Russian chocolate producer.

Orkla said its board of directors and Russian anti-monopoly bodies would discuss the planned purchase of the St. Petersburg-based Krupskaya factory for an amount yet to be disclosed.

In 2005, Orkla, which specializes in consumer and chemical products and investments, purchased another major Russian confectionary firm, SladKo.

St. Petersburg Deputy Governor Mikhail Oseyevsky said, "We always welcome foreign investments in the real sector of St. Petersburg's economy."

He said he hoped that this deal would boost the factory's development.
