Below is a summary of the main energy-related events in Russia, the CIS and neighboring countries on December 22, 2005

* Russian energy giant Gazprom said:

- It will supply up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Azerbaijan in 2006 at $110 per 1,000 cu m, up from $60

- It will explore the possibility of cooperation with Gaz de France on potentially supplying natural gas to France and neighboring countries through the North European Gas Pipeline

- It intends to apply to the Federal Financial Markets Service (FFMS) for permission to increase the freefloat of its American Depositary Receipts

* Ukraine's acting charge d'affaires said Ukraine realized that a contract on Russian natural gas supplies had to be signed by the end of the year but said the country had not received any official proposals on the matter from Gazprom

* Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia might supply natural gas to the Asia-Pacific region, in addition to oil

* Gazprom acquired a controlling stake in St. Petersburg soccer club Zenit, the city's governor said
