MOSCOW, November 22 (RIA Novosti) - The heads of Russian energy giant Gazprom and British Petroleum (BP) discussed Tuesday the possibility of jointly constructing a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in the Leningrad region in northwest Russia, a statement from Gazprom said.

The statement said Alexei Miller and John Browne discussed bilateral cooperation on the European gas market.

"The sides discussed issues concerning future bilateral cooperation, and expressed their satisfaction with the development of relations in the sphere of liquefied natural gas deliveries," the statement said.

The sides agreed to resume talks on the plant's construction after the Russian government approves the program on forming a unified system for gas production, transportation, and provision in Eastern Siberia and the Far East, with possible exports to China and other countries of the Asian Pacific Region.
