MOSCOW, August 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russia may make new proposals on the early repayment of its foreign debt by the end of 2005, Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin said Thursday.

He did not specify the sum to be repaid but said the payment would not be made to the Paris Club of Creditor Nations.

The debt Russia inherited from the U.S.S.R. was $100 billion in 2000. "This debt was divided between the Paris Club, the London Club, and the so-called commercial backlog," the minister said.

The Finance Ministry is planning to complete the final review of the commercial backlog by the end of 2005. Kudrin did not rule out that the ministry might draw up proposals to the government on the early repayment of the remainder of U.S.S.R. debt by the end of 2006.
