Ruble depreciated against dollar by 0.6% in July

MOSCOW, August 23 (RIA Novosti) - The ruble depreciated in real terms against the dollar by 0.6% in July, the Economic Development and Trade Ministry said Tuesday.

A ministry report said for the first seven months of the year the consolidation of the ruble against the dollar in real terms was 2.7%. The average monthly dollar exchange rate in July was 28.69 rubles, and in June it was 28.5 rubles per dollar. The average exchange rate for the seven-month period was 28.07 rubles.

The consolidation of the real effective ruble rate in July was about 0.6%, and for the seven-month period, 9.2%. Consolidation of the ruble against the euro was 0.7% in July, and for the first seven months of 2005 - 15.7%.

The ministry estimates that in August the ruble will strengthen against the dollar by 0.2% and weaken against the euro by 1.7%.

The real consolidation of the ruble against the dollar and euro for January-August is assessed at 2.8%-2.9% and 13.6%-13.8% respectively.
