MOSCOW, July 13 (RIA Novosti) - Russian state research centers have a $20 million research budget after winning tenders under the Research and Development in Priority Science and Technical Sectors program in the first half of 2005, the Federal Agency on Science and Innovations' press center announced.

In the first half of 2005, 23 research centers submitted 138 tenders under the federal target science and technical program, with 43 tenders won.

The federal target program set out six priority sectors, which include security, counter-terrorism, environment management, energy and energy saving.

There are 59 state research centers in Russia.

Contracts signed between state research centers and the government in 2004 accounted for more than 1.12 billion rubles or more than $39 million and were entirely funded by the government, the press service said.
