Chinese leader leaves Moscow for Novosibirsk

MOSCOW, July 2 (RIA Novosti) - Hu Jintao, the Chinese leader, left Moscow today for Novosibirsk, a city in Siberia.The visit of the Chinese leader began on Thursday, and resulted in Vladimir Putin and Jintao signing a joint declaration on the world order in the 21st century.

The document confirms the sides' commitment to a new, just, and rational world order based on the supremacy of international law, multilateral approaches, equality and mutual respect, and the stronger role of the UN.

Russia and China continue interaction on essential international issues, with due respect for each other's interests. These issues include stability in Central Asia, cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan), the UN reform, and nuclear problems in Korea.

The two countries also signed economic agreements, in particular, an agreement on final settlement of the debts of the former USSR and Russia to China, an agreement on long-term cooperation between RAO UES (Russia's energy giant) and the State Power Corporation of China, and agreements on inter-bank cooperation.

The sides also signed a framework agreement on long-term cooperation between Russia's state-owned Rosneft oil company and the Chinese national oil and gas corporation.

After the Kremlin negotiations with his Chinese counterpart, Putin confirmed Russia and China's plans to hold first serious joint exercises in late summer.

In Novosibirsk, Jintao will meet with leaders of the Siberian federal district.

On Sunday, July 3, the Chinese leader will leave Russia for Kazakhstan and attend the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization leaders on July 5.
