KEMEROVO, June 25 (RIA Novosti) - Kemerovo (Siberia) is hosting the first Orthodox rock festival against drugs.

Head of the youth department of the local eparchy Father Sergy said that priests hoped to use rock music to bring good to souls of young people.

"The best rock singers and songs make people think that they should not escape from soul wounds to phantom worlds," Father Sergy said. "Sometimes a word of a rock star means more than a word of a priest."

According to him, the eparchy is ready to help young people in any form which conforms to the Church doctrine.

The rock festival was organized by the Orthodox Church, State Drug Control Committee and the Kemerovo administration. This is the second leg of the Life Without Drugs action. A CD released after the first leg carries the words of well-known preacher, Metropolitan Antony Surozhsky: "We should live and struggle for the victory of the Good."

Local rock bands and the famous group Kalinov Most are taking part in the festival. Kalinov Most leader Dmitry Revyakin said that a musician should set an example of healthy way of life to his fans.

It is faith that can help us solve our problems, he said.
