MOSCOW, June 15 (RIA Novosti) - Russian programmers are valued more than their Chinese and Indian colleagues if a task requires creativity, professor Vladimir Sukhomlin said.

"Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese and Indonesian IT specialists are widely used in offshore and industrial programming. Russian programmers are given preference if a task requires creative solutions," said Dr. Sukhomlin, the head of the open IT laboratory of the numerical analysis and cybernetics faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University.

According to the professor, it is necessary to develop Russian IT industry and hi-tech economy to prevent brain-drain from Russia.

Unfortunately, the Russian branch science, including such important branches as electronic and computer industry, was lost after the perestroika, Dr. Sukhomlin said.

Branch science gave many teachers possessing experience in research and construction work, he added. Today universities have to train personnel themselves and cooperate with IT industry.

An IT specialist should learn all his life, otherwise he will be behind the age, Dr. Sukhomlin said.
