MOSCOW, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - Some branches of foreign adoption agencies lost accreditation in Russia, said the Prosecutor General's Office.

These agencies failed to submit reports on the status of Russian children abroad.

In connection with the increase of cases of violence against Russian children adopted by foreign citizens, the Prosecutor General's Office checked the activities of foreign adoption agencies and relevant Russian departments.

Numerous violations of the law in this sphere were revealed as a result. As of May 12, 2005, only one branch of a foreign adoption agency was properly accredited in Russia. The accreditation terms of the other 86 agencies expired. However, the agencies continued uncontrolled adoptions in 2004-2005.
