KIEV, May 20 (RIA Novosti) - The Ukrainian side has never officially declined its participation in the Common Economic Space, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Pyotr Poroshenko said at a briefing in Kiev on Friday, reported the Novosti-Ukraine news agency.
"We intend to act honestly during negotiations on the Common Economic Space," he said.
According to Poroshenko, Russia remains Ukraine's strategic partner.
"Development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation meets Ukrainian interests. We shall expand Ukraine's participation in the Common Economic Space unless it contradicts the Ukrainian Constitution and principles of European cooperation," Poroshenko stressed.
