NEW TANKER FOR COMMERCIAL FLEET LAID IN ST.PETERSBURG

ST.PETERSBURG, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - A keel of a new tanker for the Sovkomflot has been laid down at the state-run naval shipyard Admiralteiskie Verfi in St.Petersburg, RIA Novosti learnt from the press service of the ship-building holding.

The Teatralny Bridge is the fifth tanker in the series built here for the OAO Sovkomflot. All of them bear the name of well-known bridges beginning with the Latin letter T in Russia's northern capital.

The Teatralny is designed for carrying five different types of cargoes simultaneously, such as crude oil and products, vegetable oils, animal fats. The updated vessel with an endurance cruise of 15,750 miles, unmanned navigation control systems, technical means, shipping and cargo-handling systems has the following parameters: length 182.5 meters, width 32.5 meters, hull height 17.5 meters, deadweight 47,400 tonnes, speed 15.0 knots, power plant - one diesel of 8,310 kilowatts. The navigation area is non-freezing waters.

In 2003-2004 the Admiralteiskie Verfi has passed to the Sovkomflot the tankers Troitski Bridge, Tuchkov Bridge, Tower Bridge. The fourth tanker, the Torgovy Bridge, was launched late last April.

The Admiralteiskie Verfi is Russia's oldest shipyard, founded by Peter the Great in 1704. Today the shipyard has to do with the designing, building and updating of civilian vessels, as well as the building and modernization of warships. Over the three centuries, the ship-building facilities making up the Admiralteiskie Verfi have built over 2,600 vessels.
