MOSCOW, April 21 (RIA Novosti) - The prestigious Russia concert hall, in Moscow's heart, will host a gala, May 21-the Heart of Gold international prize will be awarded. The information reached media outlets from Professor Yakov Brand, award organizing committee chair. He is on the Council of Trustees for the Lifeline charitable program of badly ill children's relief, and heads the urgent heart surgery ward at Moscow's Sklifosovsky First Aid Institute.

The non-government and non-political prize is awarded for outstanding achievements in serving sublime human ideals. The Russian Red Cross and the Community of Motherland's Sons and Daughters-an international public organization for business and cultural partnership-are prominent among Heart of Gold founders.

The prize is part of Program Lifeline.

"The program envisages collections to provide expensive medical treatment to boys and girls below 16 years of age. We helped 150 kids from every part of Russia within a year. The awarding gala is to gather VIPs and celebrities from Russia and many other countries, so we hope it will replenish our purse and help many more kids," Oleg Sysuyev, LifeLine Council of Trustees chair, said to newsmen.

The Heart of Gold was first awarded last year. It has eight nominees now-organizations and private persons alike. The Grand Jury is to select five, who will get each a gold figurine, an honor certificate and a medal.

Renowned Sophia Loren is coming up as gala patroness.

A charitable concert will follow the awarding gala, both to be televised, June 1, on a Children's Day program, and an SMS television marathon for Program Lifeline.

"We want as many people as possible to know about the program, and we want it to take a national scope," said Professor Brand.

Whatever concert and SMS returns and donations will go to treat particular children with cancer or bad congenital health problems.
