RUSSIA MAY RAISE OIL EXPORT DUTIES TO RECORD-SETTING $130 A TON

MOSCOW, April 19 (RIA Novosti) - Russia may raise petroleum export duties at a record-breaking $130 a ton, or somewhere near it, as of June 1, forecasts Alexander Sakovich, Finance Ministry customs payments department vice-manager.

Petroleum export duties are revised every two months, calculations basing on a formula that proceeds from Russian oil prices monitoring in the world market for the preceding two months.

The latest record was set, April 1, with $102.6 a ton. The sum accordingly proceeded from January-February price monitoring, and the duties to be introduced, June 1, will base on the same for March and April.

Russian petroleum went at an average $47.5 a barrel, March 1 into April 18, though the preceding days steadied it down at close to $45. If it keeps on at that up to this month's end, the duties of June 1 and on will make something like $133 a ton, says Mr. Sakovich.

If the price drops to $41 a barrel, the duties will be below $130, which he deems an unlikely option.

The Finance Ministry officer thinks the duties will be close to $130, as of June 1.
