"Certainly, I will talk about Russia's intention to raise oil export duty by $20 per ton during the spring sowing campaign," said Yulia Timoshenko to journalists in Kiev.
She expressed certainty that she "will meet with understanding on this issue."
"Considering that Russians also work in our oil-processing business, I do not think there won't be a way out of this situation," Yulia Timoshenko claims.
At the same time, she is planning to meet with "owners of Ukrainian oil refineries" to help stabilize and reduce the prices of gasoline and petroleum products."
"In Ukraine, a sort of monopoly has evolved in this sphere. There are six owners who have come to terms with each other. Nearly all of them are Russians, and we hope we shall be able to convince them that 'this monopoly' must not be used to increase prices of fuels and lubricants," the prime minister said.
Today, the average price of AI-95 gasoline at Ukrainian gasoline stations is from 3.14 to 3.4 hryvnas ($0.59-0.64) per litre. Before the price rise this week, AI-95 gasoline cost 2.85-3 hryvnas.
Vitaly Chepinoga, press secretary of the Ukrainian prime minister, told RIA Novosti before that Yulia Timoshenko's visit to Moscow was scheduled for April 16 and 17.
